Local Record Stores in Toronto - Canada
Joy Fusion new CD is getting listed in many record stores in Toronto:
1. The Women Book Store
2. SamTheRecordMan (Jazz section)
3. Sunrise Records at 336 Yonge St. (World Fusion section)
4. Sonic Boom records at 512 Bloor St. W. (International section)
Thanks for Al-Awda organization in Toronto. The CD is listed within Al-Awda online store.
It was quite an interesting experience dealing with the record stores in Toronto. Many of them support independent artists by displaying their records, after signing a consignment. Many of those record stores have lots of interesting and CDs/DVDs that mainstream stores do not have. As an example, I was looking for Leonard Cohen CDs and Charlie Chaplin DVDs, and the only place I found them at was SamTheRecordMan on Yonge/Dundas!
So how about the main stream record companies? Unfortunately, HMV Canada stopped dealing with independent artists. They told me, "It got too messy dealing with consignments and we'd rather deal with distributors directly." Now, don't get me started about distributors! Anyway, we are more than happy to deal with local stores in Toronto and other Canadian cities.
We wish everybody a happy and healthy holiday and New Year!
